Clothing Guide
Family and group clothing guide highlights
Timeless portraits have understated clothing and backgrounds.
To look slimmer: wear long sleeves, long pants or dresses, and solid colors. Use dark tops with dark bottoms, or light tops with light bottoms. As a group, choose only one or the other. When everyone wears dark and one person wears light, that person will really stand out. When you mix light with dark on an individual this adds weight to your shoulders and hips. Remember to match shoes and socks too.

Colors can be mixed as long as they are subdued and go together well. Bold patterns, stripes, words and logos on clothing is distracting. Solid colors photograph best.

Outdoors: Use Earth tones; browns, blues, purples, dark reds, greens, grays, and even blacks look beautiful. All the other clothing principles still apply. Light with light, or dark with dark, solid colors, long sleeves, long pants and skirts, and matching shoes and socks.

Senior/Graduate portraits
Possibly the last single photograph you will ever have. After 12 years of school pictures of the masses, you want this one to be unique, and define who you are. This is what we do best. No one takes more time and care to do this right.
What do I do now?
1. Call right away. There are only a limited number of time slots available, and you need to get one.
2. Talk your parent, sibling, or friend into coming with you. They really help out in lots of ways; you'll see.
3. Sit back and relax. We'll send a confirmation to you by mail. It contains lots of hints, tips and tricks to look great on film.

What about the school yearbook?
Bowers Photography has been matching yearbook photos for 23 years. However, some schools insist that you have your yearbook/ID shot done by the contract photographer. That's fine to do that; it's free and you don't have to buy anything. Then you're free to come to Bowers for the real magic.
